A new logistics centre is growing for SPAR in Croatia

The first phase of the new SPAR Croatia logistics facility is now under development at Donja Zdenina, which is a part of the Klina Sela municipality in Zagreb County. More than €100 million has been invested in this project, which will significantly increase and facilitate the company’s operational efficiency. The Distribution Center (DC), which is expected to be finished by the end of 2024, would initially employ roughly 500 team members.

The new logistics center, with a floor area of 75,000m2, will be constructed on a 410,000m2 plot of land in a location with good access to roads, public transportation, and the railroad. Over 100,000 pallets of storage space will be available in the new DC.
The official start of construction was marked by Danijelo Vidi, a member of the SPAR Croatia Board, Miljenko Vukovi, the mayor of Klina Sela, and Stjepan Koi, the prefect of Zagreb County.

Investing in future expansion
For us at SPAR Croatia, the building of the SPAR Logistics Center is the project that is most crucial from a strategic standpoint. According to the amount of money invested and the number of people, I think it is presently the biggest project in Klina Sela and Zagreb County“, comments Danijel Vidi.

“Thanks to the efficient cooperation with the local self-government led by Mayor Miljenko Vučković, we were able to speed up the start of this high-value project”, added Danijel Vidiš.

To maintain retail expansion, which has seen significant investment in supermarkets and hypermarkets in recent years, it is imperative to invest in the new Distribution Center. With a final total of €792.6 million, SPAR Croatia increased retail sales by 8.1% in 2021, placing third on the Croatian market in terms of turnover.
