A new cargo terminal will be built at Tashkent airport
The new complex at Tashkent International Airport with a throughput capacity of 120,000 tons per year will be located on an area of 5.2 hectares. At the moment, work has been completed on the design of the cargo terminal, the construction of which will take place in two stages.
At the first stage, by the end of this year, a new cargo terminal with a total area of 8,000 sq.m will be put into operation, including refrigeration and freezing chambers with an area of 500 sq.m for cargo that requires maintaining a certain temperature regime. Also, a new administrative building with an area of 3000 sq.m. will be built for staff and representatives of importing/exporting companies. At the second stage, by the end of 2025, it is planned to build and put into operation a new cargo warehouse with an area of 12,000 sq.m., including the construction of new modern refrigeration and freezing rooms with different temperature conditions with a total area of 1,000 sq.m.
“Currently, the buildings and structures of the cargo terminal, built in 1994-2000, represent about 20 outdated small and medium-sized warehouse and administrative premises with a total area of about 3 hectares. The cargo terminal’s throughput capacity is actually 30,000 tons per year. However, about 67,000 tons of cargo and mail handling is forecast in 2024. All this speaks to the urgent need to expand and modernize the cargo complex. The new terminal will be equipped with modern equipment, which will reduce cargo handling time and provide air carriers with quality service in accordance with generally accepted international standards,” noted Uzbekistan Airports Cargo.
The construction of the new facility is carried out within the framework of the implementation of the relevant paragraph of the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan No. PD-5100 “On measures to transform and support civil aviation enterprises” dated April 30, 2021.
