Ground-breaking ceremony for the MLP Business Park Vienna
An official ground-breaking ceremony was held at the MLP Business Park Vienna, with the participation of Karl Gasta, deputy head of Vienna’s 22nd district, as well as representatives of general contractor Goldbeck Rhomberg and MLP Group. This innovative city logistics development project is scheduled for completion in early 2025.
MLP Group celebrated the beginning of construction work on the MLP Business Park Vienna. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by representatives of general contractor Goldbeck Rhomberg and MLP Group, as well as Karl Gasta, deputy head of Vienna’s 22nd district.
“The 22nd district of Vienna congratulates MLP Group on its excellent choice of location for its first project in Austria. By selecting Donaustadt, MLP has chosen Vienna’s largest and one of its most beautiful districts. The former industrial site of the US oil company ExxonMobil, located adjacent to the city centre, lay fallow for a long time. Now, thanks to extensive redevelopment and revitalisation, this area is being transformed into a highly needed new space. The district is very pleased with this development,” emphasised Karl Gasta, Deputy Head of Vienna’s 22nd district.
“Our investment in Vienna is generating significant interest. We have already secured our first agreement with a future tenant and are holding negotiations with more internationally renowned entities. This project stands out due to its ultra-modern architecture and the implementation of top-tier sustainability solutions. The completed facilities will be available early next year. The project’s excellent location makes it an ideal solution for last mile delivery business. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the authorities and our partner, Goldbeck Rhomberg, for their trust and constructive cooperation,” stated Peter Falb, Chief Country Officer Austria at MLP Group.
MLP Business Park Vienna is the first project developed by MLP Group in Austria. Once completed, the project will consist of four buildings with a total floor area of approximately 53,600 sqm. The space will offer flexible subdivision into modules starting from about 3,100 sqm. This makes it an ideal proposition for potential urban logistics, e-commerce, and light industry operators. The first tenant is ODÖRFER Haustechnik KG, a company of GC Group Austria.
The business park is being built on a brownfield site of about 100,000 sqm in the northeastern part of Vienna. It has an excellent location, just 13 km from the city centre. The development benefits from proximity to the S2/A23 highway, Vienna-Schwechat Airport, and convenient access to public transportation.
The project is carried out in accordance with a sustainable development strategy and uses state-of-the-art technology. In addition to plantings, green roofs, solar PV systems, and electric vehicle charging stations, the project will feature a recreational area with a pond, shrubs, and nesting boxes to ensure ecological balance and promote species conservation. The goal is also to obtain a DGNB Certificate in gold or higher.
In keeping with its build & hold strategy, MLP Group retains completed logistics parks in its portfolio and manages them. All projects undertaken by MLP Group are distinguished by very attractive locations of the logistics parks, application of built-to-suit solutions, and support given to tenants during the lease term.
