Maersk develops a dedicated facility for batteries for electric vehicles

Teplice – A.P. Moller – Maersk is increasing its selection as a preferred logistics partner for the Central European automotive sector and original equipment manufacturers with the establishment of a 14,000 square meter warehouse specialized in handling batteries for electric automobiles (OEMs).

Given facility in Teplice, which is situated in the northern portion of the Czech Republic, is not far from several Czech automakers and suppliers in addition to Eastern and Southern Germany.
Train service from the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Koper, or Rijeka can supply the batteries effectively. The batteries can be delivered from Teplice to the nearby vehicle manufacturing facilities in a timely manner because of its good connectivity to the German and Czech road networks.

Strengthening end-to-end logistical capabilities of Maersk in South Eastern Europe

Additional to two facilities in the Czech Republic – Teplice and Kladno, with 24,000 square meters of space altogether, and in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, with 4,100 square meters of space, a fourth warehouse, measuring 11,700 square meters will be finished Rijeka, Croatia. A brand-new deep-water terminal is anticipated to open here in 2025.

All facilities support Maersk’s improved capabilities in supply chain management and end-to-end logistics across Central and Southern Europe by dramatically reducing transit times and, consequently, CO2 emissions of transportation from Asia to Europe.
