The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has a golden EcoVadis sustainability rating again

The RCG was honoured with the EcoVadis status “Gold” for the third time in a row. This means the highest category, “Platinum”, is just one point away. This puts the leading rail logistics specialist in Europe in the top one percent of companies in the rail transport industry, as judged by EcoVadis worldwide. EcoVadis is an internationally recognised sustainability standard used by more than 100,000 companies. The categories environment, labour laws, human rights and sustainable procurement are judged.

RCG Top in environmental and social issues

The RCG has performed particularly well in the categories of environment, labour laws and human rights. The measures in these categories go beyond the legal obligations. Particularly high scores were awarded for participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the ISO 14001 certification, the upgrading to quiet brake pads and the numerous employee training programmes.
But there is also a great benefit for customers from the measures – they are supported in their own sustainability reports during the bidding process with customer-specific emissions balances.

Carbon Scorecard as an additional element of the assessment

A new addition to the assessment elements is the Carbon Scorecard. This serves as the assessment of management systems regarding climate change. Here, the RCG got the second-highest rating of “Advanced”. The reasons for the good score were the size of the greenhouse gas management systems, the coverage according to global standards and the data verification by a third party.

Being awarded the EcoVadis Gold standard is both a recognition and motivation at the same time. With this, the RCG takes noticeable measures that create value for tomorrow for a Europe worth living in.
