Simona Kijonková exits Packeta Group after 13 years
Simona Kijonková, founder of Zásilkovna, will exit Packeta Group. She founded Zásilkovna in 2010 and has lead it for 13 years as CEO up to the current successful exit. In December 2023, the shareholders of Packeta—JSK Investments (48.6%), NOTINO, and 4 others—have decided to sell 100% of shares to a consortium of Emma Capital and CVC Capital Partners, with capital support from R2G. Packeta has been profitable over the long term and achieved a turnover of 294 million EUR in 2023. Compared to 2022, it managed to double its EBITDA.
The transaction process began in the spring of 2023 and was led by financial advisors CORPIN (representing JSK Investments) and IMAP REDBAENK (representing the remaining shareholders). Legal advisors included HAVEL & PARTNERS (representing JSK Investments), HLADKY.LEGAL, and AXIALIS LEGAL (representing the remaining shareholders). Vendor Due Diligence services were provided by CMS Cameron McKenna Nabaro Olswang, Ernst & Young, and Boston Consulting Group. The search for a suitable investor for Packeta Group, which was ongoing throughout most of 2023, resulted in a significant number of bids from various financial and strategic investors, with severe interest from major international groups.
Simona Kijonkova founded Packeta, originally known as Zásilkovna, in 2010. Since then, the company has grown to 7 countries in Europe and employs over 2 000 people. The Packeta Group zholding has a network of more than 15 000 company pick-up points, 6 000 of which are Z-BOXes, automated self-service delivery points.
“I am proud of the entire Packeta team, with whom we’ve managed to build one of the strongest players in e-commerce logistics in our region in just 13 years. We are handing over a financially stable company, a leader in its field in Czechia and Slovakia that delivers to 33 world countries and is a love brand for tens of millions of customers. I would like to thank my colleagues for their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment, especially during the last few challenging years, from which we successfully emerged despite the covid and economic crises. I also thank the entire management team and my partners for their dedication and support during the almost year-long exit process,” explains Simona Kijonková, founder of Zásilkovna.
“Simona Kijonková has created one of the most successful and inspiring companies in Central Europe. Thanks to her founding of Packeta, millions of customers can conveniently pick up their parcels at thousands of pick-up points and Z-BOXes today in Czechia, Slovakia, and other countries. It’s a great honor for me to take over her role, after the transaction is completed, accelerate the growth of the distribution and partner networks, and strengthen Packeta’s position as customers’ first choice and a leader in parcel delivery,” comments Erich Čomor, designated CEO of Packeta Group.
